INSIGHT

“It is a greater honor to be right than to be president—or popular, for statesmanship consists rather in removing causes than in punishing or evading results—thus, it is the rarest of qualities.” —James Garfield   (Patriot Post)

I'm W. Andrew Wilson.  I was a part time door gunner with the 281st Assault Helicopter Company in Vietnam, 1968. They called me "The Ghost" of the 483rd Tech Supply.  They could look right at me.  I just couldn't be seen.

I created this page and I'm responsible for all content.

When not hospitalized or in therapy I sometimes paint oils or water colors.

See a few of my pictures here.

Wise Words

“A constitution founded on these principles introduces knowledge among the people, and inspires them with a conscious dignity becoming freemen; a general emulation takes place, which causes good humor, sociability, good manners, and good morals to be general. That elevation of sentiment inspired by such a government, makes the common people brave and enterprising. That ambition which is inspired by it makes them sober, industrious, and frugal.”

-- John Adams, Thoughts on Government (Patriot Post)

Whoever does not have the stomach for this fight, let him depart. Give him his money to speed his departure, since we wish not to die in this man's company.

Whoever lives past today and comes home safely will rouse himself every year on this day, show his neighbors his scars and tell him embellished stories of their great feats of battle. These stories he will teach his son and from this day until the end of the world we shall be remembered.

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; for whoever has shed his blood with me shall be my brother, and those men afraid to go will think themselves lesser men, as they hear of how we fought and died together.

Henry V, Act IV Scene III

For you history fans: The background image is Burgoyne’s “Surrender at Saratoga”. Saratoga was Washington’s first victory of the Revolutionary War. It proved to be the turning point for the American forces. The artist is Percy Moran, 1911.  prints and photographs division, Library of Congress
